Wow… that was unexpected… Yesterday i was in a Games Production lecture, sitting next to Mitch (who wasn’t supposed to be in the lecture).  It was pretty funny, because it’s our last week, and Mitch doesn’t do Games Production, so he was just being loud and obnoxious – it was great :D Yeah then all of a sudden, his phone goes off! Phone call… turns out it was the peeps down at International Services trying to organise a time for Mitch to come in for an Interview!!! YAY!  So his interview was that afternoon.

So obviously, i was very fidgety in the lecture, waiting for them to ring me.  They didn’t :’(

So lecture finished early and we all decided to go to Subway – on the way to Subway is the International Services place.  So i suggested I go in and just ask them when and if i’ll be getting an interview phone call. Mitch started going off “No way! they’re gonna think you’re totally desperate” (which I was).  So we started walking past the International Services and our friend Tim goes “Just go in Jace – it can’t hurt” so I did!

I asked them when I would be expecting a phone call for an Interview, and the lady goes “Well… actually are you able to come in NOW?” and I was like “Woah YES!”.  So i ran outside and told the guy to meet me at Subway coz I was having my Interview right there and then!

So I went in and was drilled with questions like “Why do you want to go to japan?”, “Are you ok financially for the exchange?”, “If you see something out of the ordinary in Japan what would your reaction be?” etc. etc.  So I assured them I’m ready for the culture shock – and in fact that is one of the key reasons as to why I really want to go, because from what I understand, Japanese culture and lifestyle is completely different from Australia’s and I find that absolutely fascinating!!  The weirder the place is, the more fun I’m going to have!

Now as always, things don’t always go perfectly to plan in my life – which isn’t something to complain about but it keeps me on my toes!  So turns out, an IT student who hadn’t studied Japanese before had gone to Kansai Gaidai once before! Good, right? WRONG! This wanker refused to learn the language whilst at Kansai Gaidai!!! Why the fuck would you go to Japan and not want to take part in the language!?!?!? Now here’s why this is bad: I’m doing a Games Degree, which is heavily IT based, AND I haven’t studied Japanese as part of my University Degree! I WILL, however, study Japanese next semester, but this tosser before me might give the powers that be at Kansai Gaidai a bad impression towards me!  So there’s the only hiccup – some other guy.

A good sign though was that when Mitch went to his interview (DRUNK MIGHT I ADD – IDIOT!!!), the lady said to him that we were both looking good to go to Kansai Gaidai.  Which is always a good sign! (He seemed to pull it off – Go Mitch!)

The interview people said we will know if we are going for sure around December or so.  So i’m gonna be totally sketchin out till then!  But I guess that’s when the next edition of The Road To Japan will be published!

Until then folks!

Ciao for now!
