Kansai Gaidai Application

Yeah so round two of my application to Kansai Gaidai is well underway. I’ve already completed a bunch of forms and all i need now is to wait for my Japanese instructo to fill out a letter of recommendation as well as the Japanese Instructors form and I should be able to submit my application.
Well, I’ve gotta get a copy of my passport too… which I’m organising today. But either way I have to wait a few weeks for the letter of recommendation/Japanese Instructor forms because I only started Japanese this year – 6 weeks ago to be exact! So my Japanese Instructor barely knows me and hasn’t received any assessment from me or anything (Bar a simple hiragana test yesterday). So she’s gonna wait a couple more weeks before filling all that out. Fair enough.
Oh, also, I stopped by the University travel agency today to ask a few questions. Mitch and I both went in once before while we were still intending to stay at Kansai Gaidai for just the one semester. And basically they quoted us some prices, including Travel Insurance, so I wanted to go and see if the travel insurance would have increased because we’re going for 9 months now. So, the deal with zero excess travel for 9 months is that I throw them approximately $1000 ($1100 – 10% Student Discout), and they cover me, my health and all my assets while i’m over there! My laptop could like, break, and they’ll replace it, No Excess. Awesome. BUT they don’t have the cheapest flights. However I asked if we could book through another Agency (or directly through Jetstar more specifically) and get our travel insurance through them and they said yes! So yeah, looks like all up it’ll knock me back $2000 for return tickets to Japan + Zero excess insurance. Slighty of topic? Maybe… Maybe…
Yeah so that’s where the application is at so far! It’s going well, the deadline is May something, but yeah, should be all sorted by then!
Ciao for Now!

Advice: Get confirmation that your Study Abroad advisor (or whoever) actually receives your documents when you hand them in (or your professors say they and theirs in). I’m still trying to get all my paperwork re-submitted… Grr.
Yeah, definitely make sure they receive the Japanese instructor form.
Actually, I’m a Japanese major, so I’m gonna in hopes of furthering my education of the language itself and the culture. Why did you decide to go?
BTW, I handed in (again) the last of my paperwork, so its out of my hands now. ::crosses her fingers:: I hope to hear something by the end of the month.
Yup. Japanese major. (^_^) I’m at the end of my second year studying Japanese at university.
Wow, your first semester. I remember my first term. Crazy times. I remember being so stressed and thinking it was so hard, but now looking back it was so easy… I call first year “The Good Ole Days”. Second year is a trip. ^_^
I got confirmation that my application has been sent to Kansai Gaidai, so now it’s just waiting… Oh, and applying for scholarships. Fun stuff.
Hey Jace,
Thanks for your comment on my blog. I realized that when I went to leave a comment for you when I first read your comment it probably didn’t go through (or maybe I forgot to push submit, haha).
I am so jealous that you are going. I had such an amazing time and I am still updating with all the stuff I did (I hope you are still keep track of my blog as there is still plenty more to come). The paperwork is a chore, but WELL worth it in the end.
Actually, if you are interested in undertaking any of the trip I did, I still have all my travel guides compiled based on hours and hours of research on forums, blogs and other travel guides. I also have all the budgeting for all the trips I undertook, so you can also use those as a guidelines. If you have any questions or want some tips or info, just write me back and I will be happy to answer (and this time push submit!, haha).
