Yeah that’s right, i’ve got an emoticon in my title… sorta.

kansai-gaidai-university

So, down to 57.5 days till I leave for Japan – till i’m bound for “Kansai Gaidai University”.  Oh and what a crazy place it will be.  Everything has been brimming “Kansai Gaidai” these days, such as the “Kansai Gaidai Hub”, my little “Kansai Gaidai Blog”, socializing with the other “Kansai Gaidai Students”, and waiting for more “Kansai Gaidai Information” and instructions.  It’s nuts.

After talking to the other future students, my decision of which Seminar House to stay in has swayed to Seminar House 3.  That’s the apartment style one, it costs a little more but it has been decided that the extra money being paid is quite literally being put towards providing a little more “awesome”.  And no, too much cake is NOT a good thing – but you can never have too much awesome.

An MSN buddy of mine threw this up on my request! Thanks man!!

So what’s the first thing i’m gonna do when I get to Japan?  Well.. find my way to Kansai Gaidai of course! Looks as though I’m gonna miss the bus, so me, Mitch and a couple others are banding together to form ourselves an almighty crew – ready to taken on the alien land of Japan.  We will traverse the concrete jungle that is Osaka until we reach Hirakata – before probably arriving at the Seminar houses so we can get sleep (but not before waking people up and getting off on a bad foot because we arrived after curfew).

Things are gonna be great, they’re gonna be epic, and its all gonna be here on my wittle Kansai Gaidai Blog to hopefully feed future Kansai Gaidai Students’ obsession, but also more importantly to remind me of the pure awesome I had years after I leave Japan.

Oh quick mention, there was a miscalculation: Neither Mitch nor I won the $93 million in the lotto. Who woulda thought?

Ciao for Now!

Seriously. I keep talking to all you guys and I’m like, “I should dorm it this semester.” T_T DAMN ALL OF YOU!

In other news, I want your countdown widget. Gimme.

@Marnia: Email them and tell them you’ll go Dorm but you want dibbs on homestay in the spring LOL

Anyways… yeah I don’t think my email about the SH 3 got replied to so I still dunno if I can qualify for it… but I want it too :D

hi,

i was a kgu student during the last two semesters. actually i had to stay there for just one but then i changed idea and so i stayed there until less than 1 month ago.
what can i say about japan..well, it was the most great and deepest experience ever had in my whole life.
in japan i found the love of my current life, a buch of big friends and a real prototype of how a society should be everywhere in the world.

few tips: if ur major is japanese or something related to japanese, stay away from sem houses. main language is english [sometimes spanish but it's just for latin people] and it won’t be worth at all if ur aim is to be focused on the language.
then u can even rent an apartment, they r not that cheap and usually without forniture [unless u go to cie asking for a certain old girl who can give u a really cheap house, with all the fornitures but it’s dirty, old and usually so fucking cold from november till april.

should you ask for more question, feel free to do it by email.
enjoy ur experience, try to stay far away from all english native-speakers and you will have a lot of fun.

がんばって!

Thank you Michele!

Unfortunately Japanese has nothing to do with my course :( I’m more or less going there out of personal interest and forcing it into my course. So on an educational basis, i don’t *need* to learn Japanese, however i REALLY want to!! I will be staying at the seminar houses but i am going to do my best at learning the language.

I’ve already got a couple Japanese friends over there that I’m going to meet up with, and hopefully some trips out with them will help my speaking and confidence :)

I hope you’re enjoying the blog!
