Ok so as for the new direction i’m taking myself, this blog, and any virtual gremlins attached to it.

My short term goals include:

  • Study my butt off and really build up my game dev skillz!
  • Study Japanese
  • Go to New York
  • Go to New Zealand
  • Get in shape for said travel locations

Now my long term goal is, as i mentioned in my last blog post, to try and migrate to Japan and start working there, and really get good at the language – which is gonna be tough since i had a really hard time doing that before.

So, as for the immediate goals…

I’ve got 2 game projects going as well as the game project i started in Japan with Annie.  So they’re keeping me busy and keeping me on my toes.

I’ve also got a japanese vocab study schedule going over at renshuu.org.  Its a really good resource – and i’m enjoying the study so far!

As for keeping in shape for travels – i’ve been runnin my ass off (about 3km’s a run) about 3 times a week.  But i want to try and run every day.

Speaking of travels, I already have all the money needed for New York – Flights have been booked, Hostel booked (but not paid for) and yep… i guess that’s all i really need to do now.  Oh there was some Visa waiver thing i had to do to be allowed in the country – but that’s done too, free of charge (however, they start charging for it next month! I got in just in time).  Oh i do need to get travel insurance too – but i’ve got a quote sittin in my room somewhere for a decent insurance for $160 -  not bad! (IT COVERS PLANE HI-JACKING!) No but seriously… it does.  It also covers me if i miss my connecting flights, for my personal belongings, health etc. Gotta love insurance!

The plus side is that i have all the money i need for New York – although ill have to be a little bit careful as i’m on a bit of a tight budget.  But, i’m saving all my moneys and i should be sitting comfortably for New York, financially, in about 2 weeks.

But this leaves me in a bit of a pickle… I don’t have any money for New Zealand! I have booked and paid for my flight, the ferry between the north and south islands, and buses around the north island.  But I have $0 for accommodation, car rental, food or the various things we plan to do in New Zealand!  But by the time we go, i should have some money… but not enough.  To be fair i completely knew this was the situation before i booked it – but… i dunno… this is just one of those things that i just really wanna do, and i dont really care if i end up in a bit of debt because of it.

Either way, its clear to me that on paper it isnt entirely possible to do these things, but the USA and New Zealand are 2 childhood dreams that i had and have been long since forgotten.  And after living my adulthood dream in Japan, i’ve decided to pursue these dreams now too – silly as these dreams seem when i look back at the times i had these dreams.  When i was no older than 9 or so, i was obsessed with visiting New Zealand.  I was about 12 or so when i really wanted to go to the states.

So that’s what i’m shooting for now – in a bit more detail than the last post.  So… hmm… what could i plan for this week then? maybe I could buy my insurance.  And sort out my credits so that i can study Japanese next semester *fingers crossed*! I’ll let you guys know how it goes!

Ciao for Now!
